I tried to leave detail out of the shadows for this one. You'll notice how in the middle version the character and the background were in direct conflict - so in the final version I've pushed things back and tried to keep attention on the character's face. This painting was a study for a recent maquette I created. Everyone go to my sculpture blog and check out the final sculpture! www.jonmaque.blogspot.com

the top one is my favorite. So dramatic with the shadows, I love it.

Hello Jon--this is Rob Wilson from Southern Calfornia. I've known Rebecca since my first year at BYU (1992). Her family visited mine this past weekend, and she gave me the address of her blog.
Well, I saw the link to your blog, and I thought I'd take a look. I must say that I am very impressed with your work! And much Kudos to you for landing an internship with Pixar!
You'll have to stop by our home for dinner while you're here in California.
Great work!
