Daaaannnnggg...your Painter skills are unmatched, sensei!
I'm loving the rock texturing on the topmost image. One mild observation though: his legs make him seem slightly off balance (this is the part where you just rotate the character against the BG plane for a quick fix--shhhhhh!)
Nice stuff John. I'm always amazed at the amount of interesting texture you put in your painter work.
So I've just discovered the fablehaven books and met hugo. I had already seen your artwork of hugo and it just clicked that my mental image of HUGO is actually your conceptualization of this amazing character. Fantastic job.
